Andaluz Solar is a company that specializes in renewable power
(electricity and hot water from the sun and wind).
The company
is owned by an American, John Martin, who lives in the mountains
near Rhonda – without any grid power – and who has
30 years experience in the alternative power industry; the last
ten in Spain (John’s grandparents immigrated to the States
from Granada). The company, which has been doing business mostly
in the Malaga/Costa del Sol area, with an agent in Cordoba, has
come to Chiclana/Cadiz by means of a local agent here – Bob
Hamilton, who purchased a system from Andaluz Solar and liked
it so much he decided to help market them here.
Andaluz Solar is a pioneer in sun-tracking systems – panels
mounted on a pole with a tracker system that keeps the panels
pointing toward the sun throughout the day. Included is a memory
chip that remembers where the sun was at a given time the day
before, and if there is no sun it follows the track of the previous
day so that when the sun does appear the panels are pointed directly
at it. This capability increased the efficiency of the panels
by as much as 70%, allowing the use of fewer panels or increased
power absorption from the same number. This system is then combined
with the latest technology in electronics from the United States:
a full sine-wave inverter and a charge controller, both of which
work on a five-stage charging system resulting in battery live
of up to ten years. When put together with six or twelve 2-volt
batteries (12 or 24 volt systems respectively), the full package
provides the very best bang for the buck (euro) available. All
of the equipment is selected from the very best available from
all over the world, including the USA, Spain, Portugal, Germany
and Japan.
Bob welcomes anybody interested to pop by his house to see his
system and have a chat. As each of Andaluz Solar’s systems
is custom designed for the individual house and family power
needs, he will also be happy to discuss these issues with you
and/or provide a no-obligation survey and estimate for a system
for your house. Here’s your chance to talk to someone in
the same situation as many of us – in English – and
pick his brain on renewable/alternative power possibilities to
make your lives a lot better.
